Ganz weighs in on quarterback debate

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

With only a few short weeks until the Huskers kickoff their first game of the season, competition runs stiff between Joe Ganz and Sam Keller for the starting quarterback spot. Not news for most of the state.

What is new, sort of, is Ganz belief that he is still in the running for that starting spot.

Despite Ganz having been in the program longer and Keller’s bucking of the system last year while redshirted, many fans believe that they’ll see Keller on the field during Nebraska’s first possessions of the ‘07-’08 season. Ganz is hopeful he will take the spot, citing his time with the team and his proven record as reasons the coaches will pick him.

I have no clue who should start, but I do know I love that pic!

July is a shooting-friendly month

Monday, August 6th, 2007

The official tallies are in, and more than one person a day was shot this past July in Omaha. If you only count the people that were injured or killed, it makes for 31, or one a day. But if you include those who weren’t actually hit, just shot at, the number jumps much higher. And with most of those shootings happening in Northeast Omaha, residents are starting to own weapons for self-defense and the police are going to station more units, especially their gang-violence units, in the high target areas.

Maybe we should re-think letting people carry concealed weapons?!?!?!

the newest Rosenblatt recruit

costner

Kevin Costner could be just the push fans of Rosenblatt Stadium need to help keep their park. When talking to the Omaha World Herald, Jason Smith (who is an organizer for the Save Rosenblatt campaign) said, “Short of Babe Ruth, he’s kind of the ultimate superstar as far as baseball.” The group is hoping Costner will appear in a commercial designed to sway voters towards saving the stadium and renovating it rather than tearing it down for a rebuild in the NoDo area.

Whether the group actually gets Costner or they find some college and pro players to help with the cause, the group has to move fast, as the official NCAA response to a stadium downtown is expected next month.
