  • A petition has been started to revamp Rosenblatt rather than build a new ball park. Moving the ballpark could be devastating to the neighborhoods surrounding it, some are saying, and are even calling Rosenblatt this city’s Wrigley Field. I for one am all for keeping Rosenblatt where it’s at, but to move it would allow the zoo room to expand, which it desperately needs. And does downtown really need one more thing added to it that will take up land space?!?! I fear I’m in the minority here, however.
  • The fireworks police are out and about, setting up checkpoints to confiscate illegal fireworks coming in from across the Nebraska border. So then how did all my neighbors get the artillery shells in they were lighting off at 2am last night?!?!
  • Paul Simon will take the stage with Democratic candidate Chris Dodd in Council Bluffs this Saturday! Head on out to Narrows River Park at 1:30pm that day to hear the speech and see Simon sing.

  • Space shuttle Atlantis was in Omaha this weekend, taking off just before 8am this morning. Apparently weather prevented it from flying straight to Florida from Cali.
  • Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with a shooting that happened Saturday near UNL. See, the campus offers more than football!!!
  • Last night the Joffrey Ballet was in Council Bluffs performing for thousands for free. Amazing opportunity to see a dance troupe I have been in love with since first I donned ballet slippers at age four.
